Over 650 Missouri S&T alumni have been recognized by their academic departments with membership in an “academy�? of distinguished graduates. Typically working in their field for 20 years or more, these alumni reflect honor and distinction on their alma mater through their career and civic accomplishments. Currently, seven academies have been founded at Missouri S&T to recognize outstanding alumni, advise the department chair and faculty, strengthen the dedication and understanding of current students, and seek financial support for the department. Through collaborations on department strategic plans, involvement with senior design projects, delivering seminars, promoting campus research, and aiding Missouri S&T with student recruitment and job placement, these prominent alumni provide vital connections to careers and industry for these departments and schools:
Academy of Chemical Engineers
Formed Fall ‘96
(1) To recognize chemical engineering graduates who have provided outstanding leadership, have attained significant levels of professional achievement and success and who demonstrate high standards of personal and professional integrity. (2) To provide advisory guidance and counsel at the call of the Dean of Engineering, Chair of Chemical Engineering, faculty, or students of the department. (3) To strengthen the dedication and understanding of students to chemical engineering through personal and professional example. (4) To partner with the Chemical Engineering Department to develop, advance and sponsor key programs of both the Academy and the department by identifying, securing, and providing financial support.
Academy of Civil Engineers
Formed Sp ‘72
To honor those civil engineering graduates from the Missouri University of Science and Technologywho are outstanding in their field, leaders in community affairs and worthy of emulation.
Academy of Computer Science
Formed Sp ‘03
(1) To recognize computer science graduates who have provided outstanding leadership, have attained significant levels of professional achievement and success and who demonstrate high standards of personal and professional integrity. (2) To provide advisory guidance and counsel at the call of the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Chair of Computer Science, faculty, or students of the department. (3) To strengthen the dedication and understanding of students to computer science through personal and professional example. (4) To partner with the Computer Science Department to develop, advance and sponsor key programs of both the Academy and the department by identifying, securing, and providing financial support.
Academy of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Formed Sp ‘80
Function as an Advisory Board to the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department Chairman. Provide recognition of its member’s professional accomplishments. Provide opportunities for members to return a portion of their financial wealth to the University that provided them a strong educational background. Provide opportunities to return a portion of personal time in support of the Missouri Univeristy of Science and Technology.

To recognize engineering management graduates who have provided outstanding leadership, have attained significant levels of professional achievement and success and who demonstrate high standards of personal and professional integrity. Academy of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers
Formed Fall ‘95
Recognition To recognize those graduates of the mechanical and aerospace engineering curricula who bring honor to mechanical and aerospace engineering as practitioners and as citizens. Consultancy To provide advisory guidance and counsel at the call of the mechanical and aerospace engineering chair, faculty or students. Ambassadorship To strengthen student dedication to and understanding of students of mechanical and aerospace engineering through personal and professional example. Sponsorship To advance the objectives of the development program by identifying, securing, and providing financial support for the mechanical and aerospace engineering program.
Academy of Mines and Metallurgy
Formed Sp ‘95
Recognition: To honor outstanding alumni from the School of Mines and Metallurgy. Consultancy: To counsel and advise the School of Mines and Metallurgy Dean, Chairs and Directors, on means to enhance the stature of the School. Ambassadorship: To interpret and promote the goals and programs of the School and the University for our various constituents. Support: Provide a vehicle whereby individual members may support, in a variety of ways, the programs of the School of Mines & Metallurgy.
